Village of Colonie Traffic Advisory Committee Meeting January 10, 2019 6:30 p.m. There was a meeting of the Village of Colonie Traffic Advisory Committee, held on January 10, 2019 at the Village Hall, 2 Thunder Road, Albany, NY 12205. The meeting started at 6:30 p.m. Chairman Prevratil called the meeting to order with a salute to the flag. Those Present: Chairman, Mr. Frank Prevratil Mr. George Lashoff Mr. John Gillivan Mr. Daniel Hornick Mr. Les Samiof Mr. Dan Judge Secretary, Julianne Okun Colonie PD Officer, Jason DePaulo Liaison, Deputy Mayor Edward Sim Kevin France, DPW Traffic Advisor New Business: Deputy Mayor Sim gave the committee an update on the light on Lincoln and Petra. He stated construction has begun on the new warehouses in Colonie Block and the lights has taken down for time being. Mayor Leak and the Board of Trustees will be holding a public hearing on February 4th at 6:00PM. He stated that the Lincoln Avenue and Tanglewood Road neighborhoods will be notified as well as the Parkwood and Nicholas Drive neighborhoods. Deputy Mayor Sim stated the Traffic Committee will not be charged with making a decision with whether or not the light will be reinstated, but they are welcome to attend the public hearing to voice their own concerns and hear what the residents have to say. Old Business: Chairman Prevratil asked for an update on the Central Avenue street light project. Deputy Mayor Sim stated he has attempted to contact New York State Department of Transportation, with NYSDOT stating the project will be scheduled soon. Deputy Mayor Sim stated he tried reaching out to New Channel 13 on their tip line, to no avail. Chairman Prevratil asked for an update on the multi-purpose bike path survey. Mr. Gillivan stated he has narrowed down the survey to 4 questions regarding residents’ usage and feelings of safety on Locust Park. Deputy Mayor Sim stated one possible route could be to narrow the driving lanes from 12 feet to 10 feet. This would give more room for a potential bike path as well as encourage people to slow down. Mr. Gillivan stated there is another grant the Village could apply for 2019 that help fund a potential 2019 Bike Rodeo. The deadline is January 31, 2019. Mr. Hornick made a motion to approve Mr. Gillivan to draft an application for the bicycle grant. Mr. Lashoff seconded the motion. 1 VOTE: All in favor of the motion.
