Mayor Leak opened the meeting of the Mayor and Board of Trustees at 6:30 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance, he also noted the exits. Roll Call: Mayor Leak Present Trustee Lockart Present Trustee Murphy Present Trustee Sim Present Trustee Tobin Present Attorney De Cotis Present Minutes of the regularly scheduled board meeting that was held on July 15, 2019 were reviewed by the present members of the board. A motion was made by Trustee Lockart to approve the minutes, as presented. Motion seconded by Trustee Murphy. Mayor Leak added that he and Superintendent Decker met with Ms. Ward, who at the last meeting wanted to discuss options for Milton Park. The following reports were submitted for June 2019: Building Department Fire Inspection The following reports were submitted for July 2019: Building Department Fire Inspection Recreation Department Fire Department Senior Center Outreach Center Mayor Leak mentioned he has been working with DPW to solve an issue with a driveway at 57 Nicholas Drive. He said it has been a several year issue with drainage. The driveway apron was done incorrectly many years ago and has never been correct. He stated he and Superintendent met with the resident and the contractor regarding the issue. Luizzi Paving, along with the assistance of the Department of Public Works will fix the driveway. Mayor Leak stated that he received a projected cost from Luizzi Paving of around $4,000. to fix the issue. Mayor Leak asked the remaining board if anyone has any concerns, to which there were none mentioned. Trustee Tobin mentioned that the amphitheater show will be tomorrow, August 6th at 6:30 p.m. He also mentioned the Planning Commission will meet tomorrow, August 6th at 6:30 p.m. and stated there are 7 items on the agenda. Trustee Sim mentioned that the recycling committee met last week. He added that we receive a percentage of reimbursement for our website and Villager new paper from this grant. He also mentioned the IT committee will be meeting tomorrow, August 6th at 10:00 a.m. He added we are working currently on upgrading/replacing some of the cameras in Cook Park. He added we have applied for a grant to not only help with the cost of the Cook Park cameras, but could also help with the cost of replacing other cameras in the Village boundaries at the other parks within. Trustee Sim also mentioned we are working on applying for a grant for the senior bus. Trustee Lockart mentioned that the Senior Center is going good. Lots of people are attending, and still we have more Village attendees than Town attendees. She also mentioned the Outreach Center is keeping busy and helped over 25 people for the month of July 2019. Attorney De Cotis stated he went to court last Thursday with Code Officer Cerone regarding 9 Hialeah Drive. He added that he has attempted to make contact with the attorney representing 9 Hialeah Drive to discuss a few things. He mentioned that representatives of the property brought some pictures with them to court that were a false representation of the actual condition of the property. They have cleaned up some of the property, but there is much more to do. Trustee Lockart asked if the pool in the yard was secure, to which Code Officer Cerone stated the fence around the pool is intact and the pool is currently empty. Attorney De Cotis stated he is still working on a resolution for the Village Plaza property. He is also working on getting the appraisal back regarding the Jupiter Lane property, and hopes to receive something next week. Chief Kayser read aloud the stats for the July 2019 Fire Department. He mentioned we have responded to 276 calls for the 2019 year. He added the daytime staff are working out well, and saved a woman who entered the firehouse in destress. Their EMT skills really came in handy with this instance. He also mentioned that he met with Midway Fire department to discuss daytime calls to try and coordinate with their daytime staff for shared coverage. Mr. Casey mentioned to the board that long time Village employee, Art Sgroi passed away. He added he was a great guy and will be missed. He also mentioned there will be no calling hours. Mayor Leak acknowledged Mr. Meservey and his family, who were present at the meeting and added he is doing a good job as our new building official. Ms. Degonzague from our youth department was also present at the meeting to see how our local government works. Abstract #4 Breakdown General: $ 180,493.22 Water: $ 16,526.65 Sewer: $ 25,209.80 Total: $ 222,229.67 A motion was made by Trustee Murphy to adjourn the meeting. Motion seconded by Trustee Tobin.
