Mayor Sim opened the meeting of the Mayor and Board of Trustees at 10:00 a.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance, he also noted the exits. Roll Call: Mayor Sim Present Trustee Lockart Present Trustee Murphy Present Trustee Tobin Present Attorney De Cotis Present Clerk Blot Present Minutes of the regularly scheduled board meeting that was held on February 3, 2020 were reviewed by the present members of the board. A motion was made by Trustee Lockart to approve the minutes, as presented. Motion seconded by Trustee Tobin. VOTE: Trustee Lockart Yes Trustee Murphy Yes Trustee Tobin Yes Mayor Sim Yes Motion passed. Minutes approved. The Clerk presented the board with Resolution #45 of 2019 entitled, “Authorize the Clerk to apply for and receive funding for the 2020 Census”. A motion was made by Trustee Murphy to approve Resolution #45 of 2019, as presented. Motion seconded by Trustee Tobin. The Clerk presented the board with Resolution #46 of 2019 entitled, “Employee Handbook updates – 2/18/20 changes”. A motion was made by Trustee Murphy to approve Resolution #46 of 2019, as presented. Motion seconded by Trustee Tobin. VOTE: Trustee Lockart Yes Trustee Murphy Yes Trustee Tobin Yes Mayor Sim Yes Motion passed. A proclamation for Mayor, Frank A. Leak was presented. Mayor Sim explained that the Village wishes to bestow Emeritus Status to Frank Leak for his dedicated years of service. A motion was made by Trustee Tobin to approve the proclamation, as stated. Motion seconded by Trustee Sim. VOTE: Trustee Lockart Yes Trustee Murphy Yes Trustee Tobin Yes Mayor Sim Yes Motion passed. Superintendent Decker introduced new hire, Dan VanWagenen to the Board. Mr. VanWagenen is our newly hired laborer, to which Mr. Decker said Mr. VanWagenen is a great addition thus far. Trustee Tobin mentioned he attended the senior Valentine’s Day luncheon and had a great time. He also mentioned that the Planning Commission will be meeting on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. He added grievance night will be held on Tuesday, February 18th from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at village hall. Chief Kayser stated there was a gas leak at the Days Inn, 1606 Central Avenue, which activated the sprinkler heads. There was a low level of oxygen in the annex building and the parking lot was covered with ice. There were lights filling with water, has EMS there as well. Needed to shut down power/gas. He said the fire police and town police were involved. He thanked the building department, Randy Rivera for his quick response. Mayor Sim asked what was causing the low oxygen, to which the Chief said anti-freeze was leading in the system, the oxygen level was between 17% - 18%. Chief also mentioned there are second and third story occupied rooms there. He stated the manager was challenging, and Randy was a huge help with the call. Trustee Lockart asked if we recently responded to Chili’s, to which we have and Chief Kayser is working with Mike Cerone on notification to Chili’s to rectify the situation. Mike Cerone added he confirmed all the dates today and is putting together a letter to go out and will follow up with the board at a future meeting, he mentioned that there may be a fine associated with the nuisance Page 2 of 3 alarm, but will run past the Mayor if it comes to that. Mike Cerone also mentioned he will update the Mayor and Board of the Hotel/Motel law and progress. Attorney De Cotis mentioned that he and Mr. Cerone will be back in court Thursday regarding Hunting Road and they are due to go back to court regarding Robert Drive. Abstract # 17 breakdown: General: $ 114,148.60 Water: $ 17,450.64 Sewer: $ 3,671.27 Total: $ 135,270.51 A motion was made by Mayor Sim to adjourn the meeting. Motion seconded by Trustee Murphy.
