Mayor Sim opened the meeting of the Mayor and Board of Trustees at 6:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance, he also noted the exits. Roll Call: Mayor Sim Present Trustee Lockart Present Trustee Murphy Present Trustee Tobin Present Attorney DeCotis Present Minutes of the regularly scheduled board meeting that was held on December 16, 2019 were reviewed by the present members of the board. There was no discussion. A motion was made by Trustee Tobin to approve the minutes, as presented. Motion seconded by Trustee Lockart. VOTE: Trustee Lockart Yes Trustee Murphy Yes Trustee Tobin Yes Mayor Sim Yes Motion passed. Minutes approved. The Deputy Clerk presented Resolution 36 of 2019 titled “Establish 2020Village of Colonie Election Day, Polling Place and Times.” There was no discussion. A motion was made by Trustee Murphy to accept Resolution 36 of 2019. Motion seconded by Trustee Tobin. VOTE: Trustee Lockart Yes Trustee Murphy Yes Trustee Tobin Yes Mayor Sim Yes Motion passed. Deputy Clerk Hart requested authorization to advertise for the 2020 tentative assessment roll and grievance night. A motion was made by Trustee Murphy. Motion seconded by Trustee Tobin. There was no discussion. A motion was made by Trustee Tobin to grant authorization. Motion seconded by Trustee Murphy. Deputy Clerk Hart requested authorization to advertise for a public hearing to discuss changing the water rates. Deputy Clerk Hart stated that public hearing would be held Wednesday, January 15th at 6:00 p.m. A motion was made by Trustee Murphy to grant authorization. Motion seconded by Trustee Tobin. Deputy Clerk Hart stated that the following departments submitted end of the month reports for December 2019: Building and Codes, Fire Department, Outreach, Seniors and Recreation. The Recreation Center hosted a Red Cross Blood Drive on December 30th that had 13 donors and they can potentially save up to 42 lives. Mayor Sim stated that the Fire Company will be swearing in three new Fire Police Officers: Ron Coy, Jeffrey Kayser and Robert Allen. Mayor Sim administered their oath of office and congratulated them. Mayor Sim asked Chief Kayser to explain what the requirements are to become fire police. Chief Kayser stated that they needed 21 training hours that was completed over 5 weeks. The new officers will be registered through NYDOJ Fire Police. Trustee Tobin stated that there are three items on the Planning Commission agenda tomorrow night. DPW Superintendent Les Decker introduced Julian Howlan, a new hire at the Department of Public Works. Mr. Decker stated that Julian has been hired for full time and has been doing a great job so far. The Mayor and Board of Trustees welcomed Julian to the Village. Chief Kayser stated that the annual fire report will be read at the next meeting. Page 2 of 3 Chief Kayser stated that the fire company received the new escape system and all interior firefighters will be trained. The escape gear is a NFPA mandate and was very expensive, Chief thanked the Board for being able to budget in these costs. All interior firemen will be trained on the new equipment by spring. Abstract # 14 breakdown: General: $55,148.12 + $20 manual Water: $16,319.56 Sewer: $1,019.06 Total: $ 72,506.74 Trustee Tobin made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Trustee Murphy seconded the motion.
