Mayor Sim opened the meeting of the Mayor and Board of Trustees at 6:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance. The following reports were submitted for the month of June: Fire Department Senior Center Mayor Sim welcomed everyone back to public meetings and thanked the department heads, employees and Village board for their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. He added that we still need to be cautious as the virus is not over. He discussed that the buildings are open with Page 2 of 4 safety measures in place and rentals of facilities continue to be canceled through the month of August. Mayor Sim mentioned there was a peaceful protest on Saturday which started on Wolf Road to Central Avenue to Lincoln Avenue and ended in Cook Park. Trustee Tobin mentioned that the Planning Commission has a meeting scheduled for Tuesday, July 7th at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be in-person. There are 2 items on the agenda, Goldstein, 1653 Central Avenue and Smith’s Liquor, 1701 Central Avenue. Chief Kayser read aloud the monthly fire report and also mentioned the year to date numbers. He said that calls are down probably due to the virus and businesses being closed, but fire activity is up and they have responded to several heavily involved fires, Village of Waterford and Rosewood Plaza in Colonie. Chief Kayser also mentioned they provided NFPA standard civil unrest training to the members last week and it was very beneficial and he was glad they did it. Chief Kayser and President Coy presented Mayor Sim with a fire helmet with the Fire Commissioner shield. President Coy said they have a meeting scheduled at the firehouse for July 16th and their election is to be held on July 28th. Mayor Sim mentioned to consider using the gym at the recreation center to maintain social distancing. Superintendent Decker stated that heavy item scheduling has begun, and the first pick-up is scheduled to take place on July 20th.
