The regularly scheduled meeting of the Village of Colonie Planning Commission was held at Village Hall, 2 Thunder Road Albany, NY 12205 on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. ROLL CALL: Chairman: Chris Dennis Commissioners: John Martin Brittany Kendall-absent Kenny Hart-absent Jim Splonskowski Brian Curran Kerry Bytner-absent Village Attorney: Victor Caponera Village Engineer: R.J. Laberge Liaison: Patty Schwarz Lockart Chairman Dennis opened the meeting at 6:30 p.m. Commissioner Martin led the Pledge of Allegiance and requested that all electronic devices be turned off or muted. The Commission reviewed the regular meeting minutes from April 4, 2023. Commissioner Martin made a motion to approve the minutes as amended. Commissioner Curran seconded the motion. VOTE: unanimous to approve Change of Occupancy 1593 Central Ave Cell Phones for Less Inc. Mr. Steve Cronin and Mr. Shawn Kanley, Cricket Wireless appeared before the Commission. Chairman Dennis asked if Cricket Wireless would be going in the space formally occupied by Albany Edit and Transfer. Mr. Cronin confirmed that was correct. Chairman Dennis stated that he would like the rear of the site on the Delafield side cleaned up from the winter debris before a CO is given. Mr. Cronin stated that he would have it raked and seeded. Commissioner Martin made a motion to approve the Change of Occupancy for Cricket Wireless located at 1593 Central Ave., Unit A, on the condition that the site, be cleaned up before a CO is given. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Curran. VOTE: unanimous to approve Change of Occupancy 1526 Central Ave. Fatboy Tandoori Pizza Wings N Fish Mr. Amed Rahimi and Mr. Bakhari, the property owner, appeared before the Commission. Chairman Dennis stated that the current paperwork goes with the previous application that has been submitted. Chairman Dennis requested that Mr. Bakhari plant an eight-foot arborvitae for screening as opposed to the six-foot arborvitae listed on the elevation specs. The specs should also have “if Available” taken off. Chairman Dennis also requested that the proposed exhaust flu for the pizza oven be moved closer to the existing pilaster. Mr. Bakhari agreed that he would have that done. Chairman Martin made a motion to approve the Change of Occupancy for Fatboy Kababz N Wings located at 1526 Central Ave. with the condition that an eight-foot arborvitae be planted, and the ductwork be moved closer to the existing pilaster. Commissioner Splonskowski seconded the motion. VOTE: unanimous to approve Discussion: The Commission discussed the Mayor and Board of Trustees request that the Planning Commission review several sections of the code to determine if any changes should be made. Engineer Laberge will draft a letter for review in response. Commissioner Martin made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:00 pm. Commissioner Curran seconded the motion.
