Roll Call: Chairman, Frank Prevratil Dan Hornick John Gillivan (Absent) George Lashoff (Absent) Les Samiof Liaison Sim Dan Judge CPD Liaison Officer DePaulo Kevin France Coordinator Douglas Chairman Prevratil opened the meeting at 6:31 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance, and requested all electronic devices be turned off or muted. Minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting that was held on March 10, 2022, were reviewed and amended. Mr. Hornick made a motion to approve the minutes. Chairman Prevratil seconded the motion. VOTE: All in favor of the motion. Chairman Prevratil asked Coordinator Douglas if any residents have reached out with any concerns for the committee. Coordinator Douglas stated that a resident named Ms. Sondra Quattlebaum from Space Blvd came to Village Hall about vehicles speeding down the Space Blvd and Moon Dr. Coordinator Douglas let the resident know that our next Traffic Meeting Committee was tonight at 6:30pm and she was welcome to join and discuss her issue. Coordinator Douglas also informed the resident to try and get a plate number or Make an Model of vehicles if possible. That information would be sent to Officer DePaulo to look into. Chairman Prevratil received an email from Mr. Phil Minissale who lives on the corner of Harriet St. and Hawley Ave. regarding large tractor trailers using the side streets. There were 3 in one day, JB Hunt and Pepsi were two of the trucks. There is a “No Tractor Trailer” sign posted in the neighborhood. Officer DePaulo mentioned that he had stopped the JB Hunt truck that day. The driver was actually lost and his GPS directions took him through the neighborhood. Officer DePaulo mentioned that he had also spoke to Pepsi about their trucks using the residential neighborhoods. Liaison Sim stated that he will reach out to gps.gov to see if there is anything they can do about the trucks on Lincoln Ave. Mr. Hornick asked if there were any upcoming events where the Traffic Committee would have a table and shifts would need to be covered. Liaison Sim announced that Open House was Saturday, May 14th and Family Fun Day is Saturday July 16th. Open House will include the Firehouse, Rec Center, DPW, Village Hall and the Senior Center. Mr. Judge stated that the street campaign signs were currently on Locust Park and Lincoln Ave and will be moved on Saturday 05/14. Next locations will be Broderick St, Sebring Ave, Hunting Rd, Tattersall Lane and Rapple Dr. Mr. Judge also supplied Officer DePaulo with a list of the street sign campaign. Chairman Prevratil mentioned that the streetlight at Jodiro Lane and Sand Creek Rd. is out again. National Grid did fix the light but two days later it was out again. The light would come on dimly at times the first two days. Coordinator Douglas will reach out to National Grid for repair. Chairman Prevratil reminded the committee that if they see streetlights out to contact Coordinator Douglas. Liaison Sim stated he is in the process of setting up a meeting with National Grid to discuss our LED lighting. Mr. Hornick likes the paving on Tanglewood Rd. and said it looks great. Liaison Sim announced that DPW has completed Tanglewood Rd, Cottonwood Pl and Locust Pk to Delafield Dr. They are planning another round of paving for August which will include Terry Ct and the Stella Ter. area. Chairman Prevratil stated that it is nice to see improvements are still moving forward. Liaison Sim announced that the Electronic Speed Solar Signs should be in by the end of next week. He is hoping to have one up and running by our next meeting. The message board has also been ordered but there is no eta on delivery. Page 2 of 3 Liaison Sim also mentioned that he had spoken to Rob Donnelly with Colonie PD about the DOT Safety Publicity Campaign. He also emailed DOT; he will reach out again to set up a meeting. Mr. Hornick stated that he could meet as early as 3pm during the week. Mr. Judge mentioned that Tuesday night Concerts in the Park will be starting up on June 14th. He would like to put together a little traffic announcement/message, one minute or less to read each week. Mr. Samiof asked if the Ride of Silence is still on for Wednesday, May 18th. Chairman Prevratil answered “Yes”. Chairman Prevratil mentioned that Holland Ave. and Harriet St. are in need of repair, the road is grated and there are many potholes. Liaison Sim stated that he will have DPW look into that area. They are still having trouble finding people to complete these jobs. Chairman Prevratil suggested more reflector strips on stop signs in the Village. Mr. Judge stated that the Drive Campaign has kicked off with new frames and signs and everything went off without a hitch. This year there will be more coverage than ever by only placing signs on one side of the street. There are currently 58 signs, and the current placement list of streets is covered though October 15th. Some signs go missing, Mr. Judge will let Liaison Sim know if he needs more signs. He could use 20 new frames. Mr. Judge suggested reaching out to Coordinator Douglas if a resident reaches out for a new sign. This will help keep track of all requests. Officer DePaulo asked if the Village radar trailer is up yet. Liaison Sim said he will check on it. He knows there was an issue with it but not sure if it is fixed.
